Mix together ground beef (or ground lamb), salt and pepper to a tough dough. Form small oblong cakes.
Peel the onion and divide into large pieces. Slice paprika and zucchini (squash) in pieces.
Alternate vegetables and meat on skrewer. Brush with oil and sprinkle crushed bay leaf and basil.
Grill on a rack over a roasting pan in the oven about 10 minutes. Turn after 5 mins.
Serve preferably warm with rice pilaf and Greek salad. Olives and bread are also good additions.
