1 ½ liters (quarts) water
2 ¼ teaspoon salt
500 g (1 ¼ ounds) potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
2 leeks, in chunks
3 dl (1 ¼ cups) full fat milk
1 ½ tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon sago or tapioca
¼ teaspoon pepper

Combine water, salt, potatoes and leeks and simmer until potatoes are tender, 15-20 minutes. Sieve or purée in a mixer.
Return the pot and add remaining ingredients. Simmer until the sago is transparent, about 45 minutes. Quickcooking tapioca requires about 15 minutes cooking time.
