250 g (8 ounces, 1 cup) butter
125 g (4 ounces) light syrup
250 g (8 ounces, 1 cup) icing sugar
1 dl (1/3 cup) cream
400 g (14 ounces, 4 3/4 dl, 2 cups) wheat flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons ground cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
100 g (3 1/2 ounces) finely chopped almonds

Direction:

Bring the butter, syrup, cream and icing sugar to the boil. Cool, and stir in the remaining ingredients. Knead the dough thoroughly and roll into cylinders about 3 (1 1/4") cm in diameter. Put in a cool place until the next day. Cut thin slices of the dough and bake at 175° C for 10 minutes.
